Welcome to Capturing Day One, my birth photography website. Before having me be present for your special event, I’m sure you’d like to know more about me. My professional credentials include two college degrees, internships across the US and abroad, and nearly a decade of experience taking photographs for businesses and individuals.
My personal credentials are my passion for documenting childbirth and my desire to capture this event on film for your family. My favorite assignment is photographing births—from the nervousness of a father-to-be . . . to the wonder in a mother’s eyes as she studies the face of her newborn for the first time . . . to the tiny, wrinkly baby itself.
My introduction to birth photography happened when I was a college student studying photojournalism. The images I saw captivated me. Shortly after, I had my first opportunity to document a birth on camera, and my passion grew. Now, with several births under my belt, I have an even deeper appreciation for the process of childbirth and the images I can contribute to a family’s experience of this moment. As a documentary photography, there is no better event to capture on film than the arrival of a newborn into the world.
